Telling the stories of Scotland through interaction, projection and play in the iconic new museum.
In 2024 the new £27 million creation of a new Perth Museum completed. Moving from it’s former home, this saw the chance to create a completely new museum experience, renovating the the old city hall into a space to tell Scotlands story.
The museum space has been arranged to tell the story of Perth and the wider area, from pre-history up to the modern day.
We collaborated with Culture Perth and Kinross, curators, and interpretations team we created 19 different interactive installations to bring the subjects to life.
We used a variety of different engagements, working with the set works and collection objects, such as projection mapping the colours and symbolism back onto weathered stone. We commissioned a relief map of the town on which we projected an animation showing the development of the region. We’ve brought a giant animal diorama to life with light and sound control.
We create a series of independent digital displays and games for a variety of age groups, from in depth archive explorations of the distilling industry through to fun games of chariot racing. Even using AI to help us imagine bizarre medieval recipes - badger ham anyone?
Across the breadth of the projection, video and interactive work we collaborate closely with exhibition designers to deliver a consistent look and feel that blended with the physical signage, making our work part of the general interpretation. Our digital work allowed us help visitors in a way the other signs can’t, as our work allows visitor choose from up to 8 languages. Our experience with museums have led us to develop frameworks that make this kind of functionality simple and keeping accessibility to the fore.
